Florida Georgia Line have had a monumental year with the release of their album Anything Goes and singer Tyler Hubbard’s engagement!
Hubbard decided to propose to his future wife Hayley Stommel in a helicopter, which was meaningful because his father passed away from a helicopter crash.
“There’s several reasons I wanted to do that,” Hubbard explains in a chat with Taste of Country. “I wanted to do it on our property, but I didn’t want to take her out on my tractor and propose to her, so I figured we’d do it from a helicopter.”
The singer shares that he didn’t want helicopters to forever represent his father’s death, rather something positive.
“Just kind of leaving that memory of a helicopter in a positive light, you know what I’m saying, and to kind of have that memory instead of the other memory is a lot better,” he says. “You know, for us, it was an epic night and it was an awesome thing. I still love flying in helicopters, I love flying in planes and it is something I may end up doing down the road and it’s not all bad.”
Hubbard reveals that his wedding will take place in the summer of 2015.
