Have you heard of The Time Jumpers? It’s a super-group of musicians that play primarily western swing music, primarily at the Station Inn in Nashville. The group of high level studio and stage musicians officially got started in 2007 when they were offered a recurring Thursday night gig at the Inn. The group has been changing and evolving ever since and has included a plethora of household names. They’ve been nominated for two Grammy awards and are currently working on another full-length album.
Vince Gill has recently been playing with the group a ton. He provides lots of great songs of course, lead vocals, harmony vocals, as well as his signature acoustic guitar stylings. It was recently announced that The Time Jumpers are going on tour, and Vince Gill will be helping front the band as they travel around. Watch Vince tell you a little history about the group below!
Western swing is an entirely different style of music that was pioneered largely by Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys. This style of “country” is a blend of jazz and traditional country. Western swing includes amazing instrumentation with twin or three-part fiddle work, three or four part harmonies, upright bass, fat sounding jazz guitar, jazz drums, as well as other different instruments like accordions. Watch their Grammy nominated recording of Fidoodlin below.
If you’ve never experienced this music check out more of their songs below and make sure you find a date to see them live. This is truly an amazing group and you don’t want to miss them if you’re a fan of true American art. To read more trending news about Vince Gill click HERE!
