Rascal Flatts visited Miramonte Elementary School in Los Angeles, Calif., on Feb. 18, to announce a $150,000 grant from the CMA Foundation.

Miramonte Elementary School is one of 1,300 public schools that are supported by Little Kids Rock, which works in school districts facing budget cuts to increase musical education though teacher training, instrument donations and other resources.

”With all three of us having children ourselves, organizations like Little Kids Rock really resonate with us,” band member Joe Don Rooney says.

“To be able to give back to young music makers and to do it with our friends at the CMA Foundation is really humbling and the best part of what we do.”

The students then turned the tables on the band when they performed for them!

LeVox and his bandmates Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney watched with smiles on their faces as the students – some of whom only began learning to play their instruments a few months ago – jammed out to songs by the Beatles and even the band’s own “Life Is a Highway” cover.

“For them to be able to execute the songs they did, especially the Beatles stuff which is not entirely easy to tackle, I was really, really impressed to see the level of talent in this room. It was awesome,” says DeMarcus.
