Miranda Lambert Picks Little Big Town Collaboration “Smokin’ and Drinkin'” as New Single

Miranda Lambert chooses her collaboration with Little Big Town as the next single off of her 'Platinum' album!

After making waves with “Little Red Wagon,” Miranda Lambert has wisely selected “Smokin’ and Drinkin,’” her collaboration with Little Big Town, as the next single off of her Platinum album.

Originally, Little Big Town wanted the song, penned by Natalie Hemby, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally, for their Pain Killer album, but Lambert had already laid claim to the track.

“[Karen Fairchild] told me, ‘You have a song I want!,’” the Texas songstress recalls. “So I said, ‘If I cut it, will y’all sing on it?’ This was at the CMT Awards, just joking around in the dressing room. But when I went in to record it, I thought, ‘If Little Big Town want to sing on my record, we are d–n sure taking advantage of it!’ I can’t even imagine what it would sound like without them,” Lambert adds.

The ballad is more mellow than “Little Red Wagon,” but still packs a signature lyrical punch that country music fans can really appreciate.

“We be lighting up, saying this town sucks, so we painted it on the bridge / We were young in love to not know enough that those were the days that were gonna to miss / But damn we know it now, ’cause that’s all we talk about, smokin’ and drinkin’”

Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert performed “Smokin’ and Drinkin'” during the 2014 CMAs. Goodness, they need to collaborate on more musical projects— or just form a super-group.
