Kelly Clarkson may have started the day in the Emergency Room, but she ended it by raising a ton of money for her charity “The Fruition Fund”.
“Y’all, I spent all morning in the ER!” the Texan-turned-Tennessean told the festively dressed crowd. “But don’t worry. They gave me a shot of B12 and I’m feeling great and so excited to be here!”
Though a dozen special guests were on the bill, the first to join her on stage wasn’t another entertainer, but her 6-month-old daughter River Rose. The baby made her concert debut wearing baby headphones and a bright red dress like her mama.
“Isn’t she just the cutest?” beamed Clarkson. “This is her first Christmas and her first Christmas dress and I just had to bring her out here to show her off. I’ve probably scarred her for life!”
Proceeds from Saturday night’s (Dec. 20) Miracle on Broadway concert totaled $400,000 — $200,000 was raised through tickets, merchandise and a text-to-donate option at the show and that figure was matched by Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.
The proceeds will go to benefit The Fruition Fund, which was established by Clarkson through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. From there, the money will be distributed to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Monroe Harding Children’s Home, Second Harvest Food Bank and Thistle Farms.
