Keith Urban recently released a brand single titled “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” which is very different from his normal sound. The new track is a blend of country and pop that has very fast lyrics and is based around a very grooving rhythm section. The new track is doing very well and is currently sitting at number eleven on Billboard’s Country chart.
If you listen to country music at all, then you’ve most likely heard the song already, but if you haven’t, check out the lyric video below… Can you keep up?
A lot of the magic in this track comes from how it was created. Instead of starting with acoustic guitar like normal, Keith decided while in the studio to start out with bass. Once he started playing the groove with a drum machine, the rhythm section was born and the rest of the song was built on that foundation.
Urban recently released an awesome seven minute documentary that shows exactly how the song came together while in the studio. In this video you get see an intimate look at Keith’s artistic process, and you get to hear the before and after of this hit song. This behind the scenes view of music creation really helps you realize just how difficult it can be, and how talented the people are that create today’s hits.
