Kacey Musgraves is working on the followup to her GRAMMY-award winning debut album, 2013’s Same Trailer Different Park.

Recently, country darling Kacey Musgraves sat down with Cosmopolitan Magazine to discuss fame, big hair, and her upcoming album.

She told Cosmo that the driving force for songwriting inspiration tends to be what she’s currently going through.

“A lot of times, I’ll be having an argument or a conversation with someone, and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s a lyric!’ Then I think, ‘Focus back on the conversation,’” she admitted. “Or it’s stuff my parents, sister, or friends have gone through. I could see a sign and think, ‘Oh, that’s an interesting perspective.’”

Kacey Musgraves fans know that she is an “old soul”. Hailing from Texas, where traditional country music is respected and emulated, Musgraves holds on strong to old-school country roots.

It was recently announced that she would be headlining one of Texas’s favorite singer/songwriter’s 4th of July concert/picnic, Willie Nelson. We are sure that Kacey is over the moon about that!

When reflecting on her next album, she admits that it was inspired by Glen Campbell and the humor of Roger Miller.

“I feel like my voice has gotten better and it’s been easier to hone in on where I feel like the music is headed,” she said.

A release date for the record, despite Musgraves’ June prediction, has not been officially confirmed.

When asked what the album art will feature Musgraves says “It’s really cool! It’s kind of retro. My sister shot it. It’s got a lot of muted tones. I’m always inspired by ’60s fashion and music. That plays a part into everything that I do. I’ll say two words: big hair.”

We will keep our eye on Kacey’s social media this spring to see when the anticipated new album will be here!

In the mean time we will have to be satisfied with her latest single release: “Biscuits”. The new anti-bullying anthem. Keep em’ coming Kacey!
