Recently John Mayer spent three nights hosting the “The Late Late Show” on CBS. In his closing episode Mayer poked fun at his famous breakup with Swift during a monologue joke about the upcoming Grammy Awards.
“You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best. Being avoided by Taylor Swift,” Mayer said. A moment later, he added: “That won’t make the Internet at all.”
Swift and Mayer dated for a few months before splitting up in 2010. As if that wouldn’t make a red carpet run-in awkward enough, Mayer is currently dating Katy Perry, with whom Swift had a very public falling out last year.
Just to complete the pop-star triangle, there’s still talk going around of a strained relationship between Perry and Swift due to a dispute over backup dancers.
Looks like there might be a little awkwardness Sunday night at the Grammys!
