Released on Monday, Sept. 29, "Something in the Water" has amassed more than 124,000 digital sales to date, earning the highest first-week sales tally of Carrie Underwood's career.

“Something in the Water” has set the all-time record for a country single at Mediabase, achieving a massive 144 total stations on impact date. In all, the single tallies a whopping 157 first-week stations on board, including Billboard and Country Aircheck reporting stations. This is a huge deal for the talented Carrie Underwood!

Besides being the lead single, the song is one of the very few original tracks that will be featured on the American Idol  alum’s upcoming first greatest hits album, the aptly titled “Greatest Hits: Decade #1” (out December 9th).

The lyrics of the powerful song include: “I followed that preacher man down to the river / And now I’m changed / And I’m stronger / There must’ve been something in the water.”

The song was co-written with Chris DeStefano and Brett James, and is about the power of faith to see people through difficult times.

Underwood described the song to NBC’s Today show as a “joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and waking up and having that a-ha moment and your life being different from that moment forward”.

Will “Something in the Water” de-throne “Before He Cheats” as Carrie’s most-commercially successful song to date? We can only wait and see!
