Earlier this week, Australia’s New Weekly Magazine reported that Harry Styles recently sent his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift 1,989 roses—a nod to the success of her latest album, 1989. The tabloid also alleged that the One Direction singer had been “plaguing Taylor with texts, begging her for a rematch.”
The One Direction boy bander cleared up rumors that he sent flowers to his ex following her 1989 album release during The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, Nov. 21.

“So Harry, I need to find this out because this a rumor. I don’t know if you’re going to answer me or not because you have so many rumors,” DeGeneres asked the British hunk.
“I’ll answer,” he replied.
“Here’s the latest rumor, that you gave Taylor Swift 1,989 roses because of her 1989 album doing well. Do you know anything about that rumor?” the host nudged.
“I don’t. I know nothing about the rumor. I don’t know anything about the roses,” Styles clarified. “I think it might have been someone else and I may have falsely taken [the credit].”
Host Ellen DeGeneres laughed and said, “You got credit for being romantic like that.”
