Gary Allan‘s latest single “Hangover Tonight,” marks his 24th top 40 record on the Billboard Country Singles chart, an incredible feat. The versatile country singer talked to Billboard about how the past influenced his latest track.
“I feel like this is the fourth or fifth time I’ve reinvented myself, or tried to push myself to do different things,” says the California native. “It is kind of ’50s and ’60s Motown. I was in rockabilly bands my whole life, and to me it was just a throwback to my youth writing with these guys. It was a lot of fun.”
Allan co-wrote the sultry piece with Traveller singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton, Cary Barlowe, and Jesse Frasure. His highly-anticipated tenth studio album is expected to be released later this year.
Yep, Allan’s title as one of country music’s sexiest male voices is safe and secure.
