Eric Church is on tour and already thinking ahead to writing a new album after the wild success of 'The Outsiders.'
On February 15th, Eric Church and his wife Katherine welcomed their second son, Tennessee Hawk Church. The newest member of the family will go by “Hawk,” which is fitting for how his father’s career is going— up, up, up!
Despite the country star’s full plate with tour stops and festival dates scheduled through September 2015, Church is itching to pen his next album. His follow-up to 2014’s The Outsiders is sure to break boundaries, “I haven’t gotten to the studio yet, but that will be interesting, ‘Do you wanna go nuttier or is it more tame, is it totally different, is it more subtle and stripped down? I don’t know, man. It’s just one of those things that I don’t know till we get to the studio and we see what it all looks and sounds like,” Church revealed to Rolling Stone.
Church went on to reflect on his most recent creative risk, “I do feel like Outsiders is kind of our outlier album, no pun intended. And it freed me up a little bit. I feel like it is kind of the crazy one and I kind of shook that tree a little bit. And I don’t know where we’re going next,”
After the amazing success of “Give Me Back My Hometown” and “Talladega” we think Church has carved out a unique creative niche for himself and isn’t afraid to push into new musical avenues.
Speaking of pushing, earlier this month the country artist filed a lawsuit in federal court against bootleggers selling unlicensed merchandise outside of his concert venues. Last year, Church went after ticket scalpers and has since instituted additional measures to ensure fans get a real chance to snag tickets at fair market price.
Over the weekend, Eric Church shattered the attendance record once again on The Outsiders World Tour with 18,626 fans in attendance at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The tour has become known for its lively crowds and surprisingly varied set list. Having attended the St. Louis leg back in September, I can tell you it’s one heck of a show.
