“Hangover Tonight” was written by Gary Allan, Cary Barlowe, Jesse Frasure, and Chris Stapleton
With its play on the word “hangover” and its playful production, Allan’s latest single has a happy and silly vibe with an infectious swampy groove.

The radio-friendly song, which features lyrics like, “We been hanging around this place / Hanging on to the hope in the way this whiskey tastes … Feelings getting stronger / How could this be wrong, girl? / All night long, girl / I wanna hangover tonight,” is presumably from Allan’s upcoming new album.
“I’m gonna do the tracks that I want,” he says of the to-be-released record. “Last time, I let Jay [Joyce] pick what he wanted, and then I let Mark [Wright] pick what he wanted, then I took the [leftovers]. I think I’ll probably cut what I want this time.”
“Hangover Tonight” certainly sounds like it could soar straight to No. 1, but if it does, it will be a surprise for Allan.
“I never watch the charts,” he tells The Boot. “It’s something I can’t control, and it drives me batty.”
