In its second show of 2015, SNL is going country: Blake Shelton is set to appear as both host and musical guest on the Jan. 24 episode.
Blake Shelton fans are looking forward to the end of this month when their favorite country music singer will moonlight as comedian on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
SNL’s official Twitter account announced the news on Tuesday (Jan. 6), and don’t worry, the news already has its own hashtag: #BlakeOnSNL.
Shelton’s fellow mentor on The Voice, Adam Levine, might be able to offer him some tips, since he pulled double-duty in 2013. Meanwhile, Voice host Carson Daly has already reached out to the singer on Twitter: “Congrats blakeshelton on hosting #SNL gig,” he wrote. “Just goes to prove kids..you can literally drink your way to the top.”
In the show’s 40-year history, less than 40 performers have ever tackled both roles as host and performer – and only a handful of them have been country stars. He follows in the footsteps of Nashville greats Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift.
Tune into NBC on Jan 24th at 11:30pm EST to catch Blake Shelton on SNL.
